Getting started
What Mac do I need?
Apple silicon (M1 or later), 16 GB of memory, macOS 26 or later.
How long until my first short?
A few minutes. VideoGhost starts with a quick first pass while the rest of your library is indexed in the background.
How big is the download?
The app is small. It downloads its on-device models (about 5 GB) the first time it runs.
Does it work with iCloud Photos?
Yes. It works with whatever Photos on your Mac can see, including "Optimize Mac Storage" libraries.
Privacy
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Indexing, search, transcription and rendering all run on your Mac.
What does it send?
Anonymous performance numbers (for example, how long a draft took on your chip), which you can turn off in Settings. License activation and update checks. If you connect publishing, the shorts you choose to post.
Will it change my photo library?
It never edits or deletes anything. It only adds finished shorts to a VideoGhost album.
Using it
Can I record in the app?
Yes, with your Mac's camera, or pick any video from Photos.
Can I pick different photos?
Yes. Every cutaway is a suggestion until you render. Swap it, re-search in your own words, or skip the moment.
Can I post automatically?
Optionally, to YouTube Shorts and TikTok through a connected publishing account.
Licensing
What happens when my year of updates ends?
Nothing breaks. You keep every version released during your year. Renew to get newer ones.
How many Macs?
One license activates on 1 Mac.
Refunds?
If you have rendered fewer than three shorts with a paid license, you can have your money back. Just email us.
